If you are a parent of a child with an IEP - a long-time special ed atty & mentor of mine relayed an imp point worth considering. Since March (when schools closed) until now - you (parents) now have a baseline of what your child needs/responds to in terms of learning. 1/
So, if you saw learning/progress on skills at home b/c you used certain strategies or interventions (e.g., reading program, support for life skills, etc.) - then the school needs to keep that going or pay for it to keep going 2/
I realize this was not an option for many families - many understandably were treading water at best when schools closed - but if your child did make progress doing something different/better - that is HIGHLY relevant info for your IEP team & must (legally) be considered 3/
Same goes for your child's functioning levels (Present Levels of Performance) - that is the new Present Level of Performance for the IEP & goals written from that. Not what it was back in March when schools closed 4/end
