(A thread) #TATMRParody is one of the greatest projects to come out of this fandom and I have been struggling with how to put my thoughts into words because I have so much to say about this movie. First off, it’s obviously better than TATMR. Not only is this movie funny...
...but it’s surprisingly deep. Especially with the characterisation. (SPOILERS) The main characters are much more complex in this version. Mr. Conductor is a broken man who could have lived a happy, peaceful life had he not given in to his addiction and fruitless ambitions.
Diesel 10 is a victim of Boomer. Controlled by A.I technology forcing him to commit acts of evil he has no say in. You actually feel bad for him and it’s probably the best version of this character yet. Diesel 10’s new backstory also serves to make the villain more hateable.
Boomer is an irredeemable prick and I love it. He poses much more of a threat here, since he’s the mastermind behind Diesel 10, plus he ordered the murder of Lilly’s father, meaning his wicked deeds personally effect the protagonists. Plus, he’s got a wicked scooter.
Splatter and Dodge steal the show. Every one of their scenes are a joy to watch and every line is pure gold and George’s arc as a reluctant follower of D10 is interesting and gives George depth he’s never had before.
The effects are stunning and you can tell The amount of effort it took to make this movie and you be your arse, it payed off. This film is extremely well put together.
The songs were catchy as hell and I love the sheer randomness of a climatic musical number to the tune of ‘I Dreamed a Dream.’ I take no shame in admitting that I sung the end credits version of ‘A Kind of Magic’ in the shower the next day. Fantastic vocals from @ericpierre53
@MrConductorFan and @wrreviews as Junior and Mr. Conductor respectively delivered truly fantastic performances providing a lot of laughs, while also really selling the serious scenes. Also, shoutout to the costumes, which look like they were taken right from the set of TATMR.
The voice acting as well was stellar. Especially, @thomasandturtle and @EEngine93 as Splatter and Dodge respectively, providing many of the movie’s best lines in a fantastic comedic double act.
As well as @FlyingPringle as that rabbit. The best character in the film. He had such little screen time, but left such an impression. We didn’t deserve that rabbit.
The cinematography was outstanding. The fact that they went to specific locations, used in the original TATMR, to film shows the dedication Nicky, Rob and Jacob had for this project.
A fee people have taken issue with the excessive substance abuse in the parody and, while yes, it is mostly played for comedy. I doesn’t advocate for drug use. The entire point is that Mr. C’s life is miserable because of his addiction.
And when Junior discards the gold dust at the end, it’s the conclusion to his arc. He’s ready to move past the addiction and chooses not to make the same mistakes his father did. In Patch’s case, yeah he’s just a junkie played for laughs. But for the conductors, it’s deeper.
To close out, bravo @MrConductorFan @wrreviews and @FlyingPringle for this masterpiece. While it does have some issues, in particular some scenes drag on for a little too long, this film is simply fantastic and all involved should be proud.
