I just had a WILD first day of content classes. Two minutes before we started virtual rotations, the power went out for the whole block. No lights or WiFi - and no cell service at first while every device on the block switched simultaneously to data.

I dash out of my apartment, down the block, until I get one bar of service and call @courtneynotices. My @OdysseyPUSD team is springing into action. Our school social worker hops on my Zoom link to let students in.
Finally my phone gets service, and I hop on Zoom say hello. I get to tell students the wild story and spin it into a metaphor for this year - things will often not go as we imagine, and we& #39;re going to make the best of it, together. Nothing better to humanize me on Day 1!
The subplot became how I had to keep moving around the apartment complex to avoid a leaf blower that was following exactly the same route as me.

Anyways, I& #39;m proud of our @OdysseyPUSD culture where our team worked together, our young people stuck around, and we all rolled with the weirdness. AND I still got them excited about an experiment for next week! Not the first day I imagined - but one I will always remember.
