@fordnation @Sflecce @melissagrelo @CBCToronto Just in case anyone actually believes #OntarioTeachers aren’t stepping up, let me fill you in on a few facts that he (and you) may not know:
1. It is just about one week until the start of the school year and I still don’t know what subjects I’m teaching
2. I don’t know who I’m teaching and how many of them I’ll be teaching
3. I don’t know how to properly set up my classroom or if I even have the right furniture for my classroom.
4. I don’t know how I’m going to provide resources such as pencils, art supplies, etc... to students since they can’t share.
5. How are the students and I supposed to wash their hands if I have no sink in my room? Is sanitizer enough?
6. Will there be enough computers for kids since we can’t easily share as we did before?
7. What are the bathroom/lunchtime/entry/exit/recess protocols?
8. How do I help a student one-on-one in a way that doesn’t violate the distancing guidelines?
9. If I am with my students all day, what do I do if I need to go to the bathroom?
10. I do not know of a single teacher who isn’t willing and more than ready to get back at it.
Mr. Ford. It’s not that we won’t step up. It’s that we’re not sure how. Because yo ur government has done such a poor job, right now we have no idea how to do ours. We want our students to thrive-mentally and physically. We want to go back to school. We want to do a good job.
P.S. you’ll notice that not one of my concerns is whether or not I’ll get COVID-19. It’s so far down my list of worries that it’s not even worth mentioning. You want us to step up @fordnation ? Then give us something to step up onto! #OnPoli #onted #BackToSchool2020
