We are quick to take to social media when something goes wrong or about something negative. I would like to point out something good that happened today. I'm going to be putting it out in this thread. I would urge everyone to please take 3 minutes to read it. It's important!
While I was returning home with my family this evening I witnessed a terrible accident. A motorist hit a stray cow on the road and flew off his bike into the divider. I was just behind him, thankfully I stopped in time.
In the spur of the moment I jumped right out of the car & ran to his aide, forgetting to wear my mask (my fault, I completely agree, but his life was more important then... couldn't think of anything else). Thankfully the motorist was wearing a helmet. That's what saved his life.
His head went straight into the divider, smashing his helmet to bits. Despite wearing a helmet he had massive swelling on his head. As he lay there groaning and immobile, 4 other passersby gathered. I rushed to my wife who was in the car and asked her to dial 100.
What happened next surprised & pleased me. First, the operator on call - my wife was in a state of panic and couldn't communicate to her properly - the lady immediately calmed her down and asked all the right questions. The phone got disconnected, but got a call back immediately.
In the next two minutes the local police & ambulance called not once but twice. Over the next 8 minutes they kept following up every 30 seconds. The cops were the first ones to respond. They were at the location in less than ten minutes. The ambulance was not too far behind.
Once police took the motorist to hospital,we left. A similar incident took place not too far away from there (2 km away) in 2012. We called 100, only to be told we have reached the wrong area & must call 100. Tried again... same response. This happened in Greater Noida.
A lot has changed in the last 8 years. Thank you @Uppolice @dgpup @upcoprahul for a job very well done and giving us hope. Thank you to the operator (the first responder on the phone) and @myogiadityanath for steering the ship. And of course to the good samaritans.
A word of advise to others who witness such things... if you can help, please stop and do something. If you can't... there's no need to watch the 'tamasha'.
