I don't think there is any question that 2020 is going to be wild in terms of injuries - conditioning, no preseason, COVID, etc. Especially at RB, depth is going to be key, and could be the difference. 𝐀 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 on my projected backup RBs as of today. Enjoy! πŸ”₯πŸ‘‡πŸ”₯
π€π‘πˆ-Chase Edmonds, top 5 backup in the league, described by Kliff as starter talent, arguably a RB1 if Drake goes down. Value πŸ“ˆ Drake is in a boot.
𝐀𝐓𝐋-Brian Hill. Tough one, as some reports have Ito Smith, but majority say Hill is the guy. Can Gurley hold up?
𝐁𝐀𝐋-JK Dobbins. Has shined already, fits offense perfectly. Ingram safe to start, but will be tough to keep JK off the field. https://twitter.com/i/status/1297602583020941319
𝐁𝐔𝐅-Zack Moss, could become the starter. Singletary struggling some, and Moss has 3-down potential. IMO will be the GL back.
𝐂𝐀𝐑-Mike Davis rising to the top over Reggie Bonnafon. No one can replace CMC, but just think about how many touches he has gotten. RB2/flex if CMC is out.
π‚π‡πˆ-Ryan Nall. Big topic when Monty went down. Cohen not an every down back. Nall only guy built to carry the load.
π‚πˆπ-Gio Bernard. This should be getting more buzz while Mixon has holdout-induced migraines. Lots of upside in new CIN O.
𝐂𝐋𝐄-Kareem Hunt, obviously shouldn't be viewed as a backup, has stand-alone value. Value would sky rocket if Chubb hurt, or if traded. Just needs work.
𝐃𝐀𝐋-Tony Pollard. Top 5 backup. Anything happens with Zeke and he becomes a prized asset. DAL may look to get him more involved this year.
𝐃𝐄𝐍-Philip Lindsay. I'm not as high on Gordon, and think Lindsay could end up with nearly as many touches. He added 10 lbs of muscle.
𝐃𝐄𝐓-D'Andre Swift, but not for long! I actually am viewing Kerryon as the backup, just a question of when. I love Swift's ceiling. He's currently banged up, which may slow him taking the starter role. One of the single best values in dynasty and redraft. Buy, buy, buy!
𝐆𝐁-AJ Dillon, more than just huge quads. I think we will need to be patient with Dillon. Even some discussion Aaron Jones gets resigned. But Dillon was brought in for a reason, and GB wants to establish the run.
π‡πŽπ”-Duke Johnson. Really no one else in HOU after the DJs...
πˆππƒ-Marlon Mack. That's right, I think JT is the day one starter, or 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘢𝘭π˜₯ be. Maybe Mack gets the first few carries, but just wait on it. Mack is talented, but his future is finding a new team.
𝐉𝐀𝐗-Devine Ozigbo. Slight edge over Armstead, who missed 3 wks w/ COVID
πŠπ‚-Darrel Williams. Initial buzz after Damien Williams opted out was DeAndre Washington. Maybe he could get there, but reports are it is the other DWill is securing the backup job to CEH. It's not like CEH is a big dude, so perhaps both worth rostering. DWill has 3D potential.
𝐋𝐀𝐂-Joshua Kelley, but don't flame me if it's Justin Jackson. IMO Kelley will be the eventual RB2, has 15 pounds on Jackson, and LAC identity will be running the ball. Kelley has flashed thus far. I'd caution all 3 backs will get touches in LA.
𝐋𝐀𝐑-D.Henderson. Don't think it is a hot take to declare Akers as the starter. Hendo is banged up some and could barely get on the field last season, even with Gurley hurt. Both will get the ball, no doubt, and can't forget about Malcom Brown either. But Akers is the future.
𝐋𝐕-Jalen Richard for now, but this is mirky. They drafted Bowden, & just signed T.Riddick. They likely mix these guys in, & use individual strengths. I'm staying away.
πŒπˆπ€-Matt Breida. I think Howard is the initial starter, but Breida the 1B. Could come down to game script.
𝐌𝐈𝐍-Alexander Mattison. This is cut and dry. It looks like Dalvin will be playing on his final year. If he doesn't resign, Mattison stock πŸš€High upside.
𝐍𝐄-Who knows, it's NE! IMO we see a mix of Sony & Harris to start, w/ White heavily mixed in. Watch this one VERY closely.
𝐍𝐎-Latavius Murray. We saw this play out when Kamara was out. I think Ty Montgomery gets some touches though in that scenario.
ππ˜π†-Dion Lewis? Was a mess last season when Saquon was out, I'm avoiding. Reports are Lewis won't just be a 3D back, want to fully feature Saquon.
ππ˜π‰-LeVeon Bell looks to be backing up Gore, Perine & now Kallen Ballage. In all seriousness I think Gore is first up after Bell. No thx.
ππ‡πˆ-Boston Scott. Sanders should get bulk of the carries, but will anyone be surprised when Scott gets worked in? Has flex value. Stash.
ππˆπ“-Benny Snell. Looks improved, and worth a stash given Conner's shaky health. McFarland not ready.
𝐒𝐄𝐀-Carlos Hyde. We all want to let Russ cook, but we know they will pound the rock. So I think we will see some Hyde this year. Keep an eye on Penny once he gets healthy.
𝐒𝐅-Tevin Coleman. I still expect some committee, but right now Tevin looks like the RB2 after Mostert. Few trust McKinnon, but watch out if healthy.
𝐓𝐁-Shady McCoy. It ain't Vaughn yet folks. He might play on special teams. Needs more time to develop after a rough start.
𝐓𝐄𝐍-Darrynton Evans. Clearly the Derrick Henry show, but Evans the only other guy with talent that could step in.
𝐖𝐀𝐒-Antonio Gibson. Many were saying Bryce Love, but IMO it's Gibson after Peterson. They clearly want to get Gibson touches, & has gotten more run w/ 1st Team.
πŸ”₯I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. I don't think we can understate how important having depth w/ plenty of RB options will be this season! Plan accordingly and load up. My favorites from the list- C. Edmonds, T. Pollard, K.Hunt, B.Scott, D.Swift, JK Dobbins, A.Gibson. πŸ”₯
