Sometimes I look at other toku/toy/anime people.

And I realize, I could probably get a bigger following if I established a more moderate tone, tweeted more on brand, and kept personal stories to a minimum.

But that feels like such a compromise, and I& #39;d rather be who I am.
I started this thing over a decade ago as a way to keep in touch with friends from those communities. In that time I achieved some level of reach.

There was a time when growing that reach seemed like a good idea, but now I don& #39;t think I want it.
I& #39;m not starved for followers.
And the ones that do follow me after all of my views, passions, anger, and my own personal breakdowns are the ones who understand the way I am.

Every time I lose a follower after supporting a cause I believe in is one less bad reply I have to read.
And I have grown as a person thanks to the people that I follow, and that I admire.

My friends both online and off have helped me see a lot of perspectives that I might not have considered in my 20s.
I guess the trite way to summarize this is that I& #39;d rather grow as a person than grow my follower count.

In an ideal world, you could have both.
But look at the replies to any big meme account (or big name fan) and you& #39;ll see what& #39;s out there.
This thread also prompted me to go through the list of accounts I& #39;m following, and hoo boy... there was a lot of nonsense on there.
Brands that were doing giveaways, dormant accounts, people that had gone toxic, and accounts that stopped following.

I haven& #39;t pruned in years.
