Do the children know we had tanning salons? I feel they’re so archaic at this point that perhaps an entire generation may not know they existed?
ANYWAY as a former teenage tanning salon employee, I can’t help but be shook to my core about this perfect reenactment
I feel it is my duty to say a few things: do not tan in a death bed. Please. Wear SPF 30+ daily. And I pride myself that I was actually a good tanning employee!!! I’d teach you how to use everything correctly your first few visits and walk you through the Mystic Tan movements.
One product I’m obsessed with to this day that is legit a good moisturizer — and I say this as a beauty reporter now — is Hempz. I hate the marketing but the smell is bomb and the moisturizer is excellent. https://shopstyle.it/l/bl4YM
I was obsessed with a tanning lotion called Smoke. It had a sulfur smell which honestly is deranged given we were baking in these beds. But I did tell people if they didn’t want to buy a lotion to just moisturize before their session lol.
I was definitely the person who loved to cocktail before big events. 12 minutes in bed 1 (no lotion) and then a Mystic Tan. No, I will not be sharing my prom photos tyvm.
Anyway, one thing working at a tanning salon as a teen taught me was how UV rays worked. I am thankful for that because it stopped me from tanning in a bed much sooner than I probably would have on my own.
I ended up learning how to airbrush tan in college and it was my first job in LA. I miss it sometimes. I self-tan regularly now when I want a glow! Anyway please don’t tan in tanning beds. You will regret it!!!
