Every character in Avatar has flaws. Sokka was sexist and didn't understand leadership. Aang was too goofy and irresponsible. Toph was to harsh and careless. Zuko was a piece of shit. Katara was too emotional and easily clouded and blinded by her feelings.. https://twitter.com/firelorddany/status/1276209085654994945
Yall worship the other characters and look at their flaws as "a part of their arcs and character developments", but with Katara yall just take the moments where she shows her flaws and run with them to hate on her.
The Southern Raiders is still the best episode. Now cry about it.
This scene perfectly sums up who she really is. She is a very emotional person who gets attached to and controlled by their feelings very easily.
She was so angry at her father the entire episode not because she wanted him to stay, or because she doesn't understand why he left,
but simply because she was angry. Yes. This is the reason. Even she didn't know why she was angry. Even she knew she shouldn't be angry, but she was, and she couldn't help it. Her emotions were in control of her behaviour and actions and she couldn't help it..
But that all changed in The Southern Raiders. She had hate, grief and anger in her heart and she wanted to let them all out and kill the man. She wanted to act on those feelings like she always does, but she didn't. She took control over her actions and didn't kill the man.
Katara learned how to use her head instead of her heart in that episode. That's why she was able to stay clear minded, not get distracted by Zuko's pain and defeat Azula with a smart strategic move (something Sokka would do btw, which is interesting) and then go and help Zuko..
That was all part of her growth, so if yall think that's a valid reason to hate her, then maybe u should hate Sokka too for being sexist, or Zuko who not only put team avatar in hell for months, but he also broke Iroh's heart & betrayed him.

Zuko & Sokka GREW, but so did Katara!
I don't know why I wrote this essay it's not like anyone is gonna read it..
