BLM has always been a public demoralization & destabilization op.

They weaponized video, emotional impact of seeing horrifying violence, & over-estimation of risk emotional impact often engenders. They used blatantly false framing & alarmist rhetoric to produce a moral panic. https://twitter.com/LeonydusJohnson/status/1299298057620725760
Some rhetoric seems almost intended to draw out dynamic-feeding reactions. Claims that white men are the greatest threat to public safety attract retorts pointing to FBI stats painting a different picture - responses that race-conscious ppl read as racist black-criminality claims
Similarly, black disproportionality in OIS is somewhat less than degree of black overrep in population of homicide perps & other violent guys given to fighting cops. IOW, it's not disprop if you look at relevant baseline. But this too is attacked as furthering harmful stereotypes
Reasonably rigorous studies indicate black suspects may be subjected to higher levels of excessive but non-lethal force. That deserves further scrutiny & policy response in impacted PDs. But that's a v different rallying cry than,"Racist whites murder us in the streets every day"
Hyperbolic memes + false case narratives they know LEO-defenders will tend to debunk (providing "further evidence" of whites' racist, callous indifference to threats to black lives) were needed to build a case that combating racism "by any means necessary" is a moral imperative
As Leonydus notes in his thread, the vast majority of unarmed individuals killed in OIS were actively fighting police at the time. Likelihood of a law-abiding citizen - black or otherwise - becoming an OIS casualty is microscopic. Yet LeBron lives in fear https://twitter.com/LeonydusJohnson/status/1299298056656035840?s=20
