Hey, quick rundown of what happened with the 6 stripe/"new" pan flag (on the right), bc I see a lot of people getting the timeline a bit muddled - which is fair bc a lot of the threads got deleted.
The flag was created in mid 2020 and posted to twitter by a lesbian who (upon challenge) claimed it was made by committee w 4 pan friends.

It was posted w a claim that the original flag (that I designed in 2010) is transphobic, and that people should use the new one instead.
When pressed, OP shared a graphic as the proof of the pan flag being transphobic. It was a poorly worded definition of pansexuality overlaid on the original flag. I didn't make it.
When challenged, OP claimed honest mistake and no ill intent (but never reached out to me directly). Searching "pan flag creator" or "pan flag origin" at the time led to a source that linked back to me. My pinned post about the flag also already existed.
Ironically, the definitions for the stripe meanings the OP had for their new flag included "gender blind", which is often transphobic in application.

The lie that the original flag/creator is transphobic spread, and my mentions blew up with people combating misinformation.
The OP never reached out to me over any of this.

Not long later (a month? A few weeks?) I made tweets affirming my support of microlabels, namely bi/pan lesbians. There began a wave of harassment and calls to cancel/boycott the flag again.
The 6 stripe flag, which had been middling in obscurity after trying to get it popularised by lying about the original flag, was rebranded as the "pan flag for exclusionists". I'm not sure if this was done by the OP or other users, as my mentions became a nightmare.
I got misgendered a while lot, kpop twitter descended, who were all obsessed w the fact I'm 30.

Apparently I even got slated on a big sapphic FB page and r/pansexuals, but didn't look at those in detail for my mental health 😂
During this second wave of trying to launch the "new" pan flag, pan lesbians claimed the flag as their own. I'm not sure if it's still being used unironically in those circles.
The third and latest attempt at smearing the original flag was a completely fabricated claim that I stole/appropriated the design from a defunct Indian kingdom, detailed in this thread: https://twitter.com/eviejasper/status/1295307199728820224?s=19
This third attempt doesn't appear to originate from the 6 stripe flag crowd, and more of a general anti-pan move via instagram. Still, some 6 stripes flag supporters did use this opportunity to try spread their flag again. Even after it was proved to be entirely false.
