and for anyone wondering why: mine is related to an eating disorder history, but weight stigma is a real problem in healthcare. Weight is often looked to as the first reason why a person is experiencing x symptom, and experiences of people in larger bodies are often dismissed
it discourages those in larger bodies from seeking healthcare for problems, as they fear that a doctor may tell them simply to lose weight, instead of exploring other potential reasons behind the health issue.
