The theory that it hurts Democrats is based off of the, hmm...specious idea that some number of black voters would automatically support a black candidate for president, and especially one with a large pop culture footprint.

Spend any amount of time thinking about the community-based nature of black voting, and you’ll immediate realize that a Kanye campaign would appeal most to the most disaffected black voters, particularly men. But this is the group from which Trump draws his support!

Kanye doesn’t pull from Democrats, he gives anti-Biden, Trump-skeptical black voters an outlet should they do go the polls!
