Judge, to a witness during a bench trial: if you shot him in self defense how did you get charged?
Jfc, I came in late and didn't realize this. The witness was charged with shooting the defendant, then went to the magistrate and took out charges against the defendant after bonding out.
And then the ADA objected to the defense attorney's line of questioning about the incident in which the alleged victims shot the defendant.
Again, district court is a radicalizing experience
The judge has now interrupted the defense counsel's closing to say that neither witness is very credible.
Not guilty. I was genuinely surprised, although not as surprised as I was that this witness's attorney let her testify. Did I mention that her felony assault charges are still pending?
I'm now watching another trial. I think the ADA last asked a question about ten minutes ago. The judge is helpfully asking the witness what happened next for him.
Defense attorney has defendant on the stand, asks a question. Defendant starts to answer, judge interrupts defendant to say he doesn't care about that part and to skip ahead.
