why has it taken me this long to realise literally all of capaldi's season on dw was probably the most human we have and ever will see the doctor
like think about it the whole season was just a trip through the doctors poor mental health after the loss of 1/?
so many of his companions. for once he didnt just cry for a bit and then go on adventures and find a new companion that shit actually hit him hard. he settled down in a uni, finally asked someone to look after him and give him help EVEN if he didnt want it 2/
or didnt listen to it in the end. it's one of the first times we've seen it affect the doctor on more than just and internal level. he's made awful decisions before but he made plain stupid ones in that season choosing to go blind rather than not know something a decision 3/?
that put not only him but the people around him at risk. also if we get all englishy with this we can use his blindness as a metaphor because throughout the season he just straight up refused to acknowledge that there were other ways to do things 4/?
which again put him and the people around him in increasingly dangerous situations. he only seemed to recognize this when bill ended up as a cyberman and it became too late to save them from the situation he'd gotten them into. 5/?
tldr: in my opinion capaldi was the doctor who's poor mental health was portrayed in a relatable and understandable way and i hope more of the character development we got works it's way into jodies era :) 6/6
