Working w/ the @GRChamber team on applications for the @KentCountyMI Small Business Recovery Program I am reminded how easy it is to forget/take for granted what small business owners do. 1/
If you have an idea for a business, you likely borrow money from a bank or family and friends to get going. It may start in a spare bedroom, garage, or your parent’s house. A great amount of personal time is sacrificed to get things up and going. 2/
A small business may get a storefront or building and sign a lease, hire people and agree to pay them all whether or not the business make money. 3/
In addition to taking financial risk, there is the risk of embarrassment and or damage to your career if the venture fails. If it does fail, it is not like other jobs where you can just walk away. The mess of the failed business is yours to clean up too. 4/
With all the headlines, it is easy to forget the social and financial risk associated with starting and running a business. THANK YOU to all the small businesses owners out there and for all you do to make our communities great. 5/
Your willingness to make the sacrifices and take on the risk necessary to chase your dreams, make a living and make the world a little better is respected and appreciated. 6/
