“I’m interested in joining the RAF. I know quite a lot about the A400 but not much about the voyager and what you use it for other than air to air refuelling?”

Voyager is the RAF’s sole air-to-air refuelling (AAR) tanker and also operates as a transport aircraft.
It can operate as a passenger aircraft, delivering 291 personnel but also offers considerable capacity for the movement of freight.

Aeromedical configuration, including the ability to carry up to 40 stretchers is also available.
In its AAR role its capabilities include the ability to operate a towline, where the Voyager orbits around a prescribed area awaiting receivers.

Or on a trail, where it flies with a number of fast jets, refuelling over long distances like crossing the Atlantic.
“Vespina” Voyager provides VIP travel for the Royal Family and Prime Minister while also still being able to carry out its AAR capability.
Voyager @DefenceOps current deployments include 1312 Flt in the Falklands, as part of 905 EAW providing aerial refuelling and air transport.

OP SHADER, as part of 903 EAW based in @RAFAkrotiri, UK contribution to the US-led mission against so-called Islamic State.
Voyager is also on Quick Reaction Alert 24/7 365 days a year in support of RAF Typhoons, protecting UK airspace.

This AAR ability allows Typhoons greater range and greater endurance.
