Blackpink and Selena’s new song ICE CREAM got released. When I first heard the lyrics, as a Muslim I found the line "play the part like Moses” offending and disrespectful. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about then read the thread.

First of all I wanna say I in no way wanna discredit the artists and the songwriter for the hard work they’ve put in into the creation of this song and I don’t think this is blackpink’s fault but rather the songwriter who wrote something they maybe didn’t have enough knowledge of

To explain the situation. Moses is a one of the most important prophet in Islam and for Muslims. We have great respect for him. Songs , instrumental music are forbidden in Islam and to include Moses’s name in a song is extremely disrespectful in the first place

But I let it slide because I didn’t want to bring it up and create a whole army against blink situation and start a fan war because insulting them or offending them is not my intention.

But then I saw the songwriter explaining the line and talked about Moses parting the sea story and how they wanted to show it as a standard for a man and wanted to say that you have to do better than that.I’m sorry for the poor explanation of their words,you can read it yourself

That’s when it got more offending for me because Prophets are the messengers of god and are not equal to normal human beings in respect! They’re of much more respect and honour and comparing them to a normal man is of huge disrespect.

Whoever wrote it should’ve done the proper research because when your writing something and have such a huge audience you need to be careful you’re not disrespectful by race or any religion. I’m not saying it was their intention.

I found something disrespectful to me and decided to speak about it. I wish all the best to their song but I’d be happy to see the company apologise or at least remove the part. This is not the girl’s fault and don’t deserve this:)
