1/ Optimize Your Profile

- Choose a nice, smiley profile picture
- Make it clear what you topics you write about in your bio
- Don’t use hashtags in your bio, looks spammy
- Be authentic & genuine
- Use your pinned tweet as an extended version of your bio
2/ Write Valuable Content

- Make interesting observations
- Put them in a digestible format
- Share your learnings

The more novel your content is, the more you’ll stand out.
People follow accounts that they can learn from.

Can’t think of anything original?
- Summarize/curate
4/ Example: Thread

I was subscribing to a lot of newsletters and learned about:
- Landing Pages
- Automated Welcome Emails

I had written them down to apply to my personal newsletter and thought, why not share these lessons too?
5/ Make It Easy To Read

“Write for skimming, not deep reading” - @david_perell

- Use bullet points
- Remove jargon & buzzwords
- Use white space to help words breathe
- Don& #39;t write in long chunks of text
- Use visuals if that helps, just like @jackbutcher of @visualizevalue
6/ Be A Lighthouse For Like-Minded People

Love this @mkobach quote

Be a high quality signal and you’ll attract people with the same interests

Find your tribe & actively nurture it.

I’ve met many eager, curious minds because of Twitter and life is better because of them.
7/ Example: The Best Newsletters Tweet

This was my first “viral” tweet

That single tweet signalled my passion for newsletters.

Result:
- Others who love to read started following me
- Got 80+ new subscribers to http://BrainPint.com"> http://BrainPint.com
- Many new friends
8/ Build In Public

- Share about what you’re working on
- (Yes, even when it’s not perfect!)
- People love vulnerability & authenticity
- Ask for advice if you hit roadblocks, people want to help

I learned all of this from stars like:
@thisiskp_ @arvidkahl @nocodelife @5harath
9/ Use Leverage

When you’re small, tweet smart.

Borrow the audiences of bigger accounts by:
- Commenting on their tweets with value
- Quote Tweeting tweets with your unique perspective
- Writing valuable tweets and tagging them
- Summarize their best work / quotes
10/ Use Tools & Analytics

“To be interesting, be interested” - @anthilemoon

- Make friends in the DMs
- Nurture those friendships
- Ask curious questions to spark conversations
- Add value in comments on others’ tweets
- If someone needs feedback on their projects, provide free help
12/ Lift Others Up

- If your friend needs a RT/Like for visibility, help them, it’s free!
- Find ways to publicly/privately thank people who have helped you grow
- Support and rally around good people & causes
- Share positive content and resources that can help others
13/ I used these tips to grow from 40 (July) → 500

You don& #39;t need to tweet a lot to grow

Focus on providing value and you& #39;ll gain engagement, and an audience.

A note of encouragement to those who were like pre-July me: Stop lurking, start creating and making friends! It& #39;s fun
