Ways to avoid snacking [THREAD]
1. Drink A LOT more water. Sometimes when we're dehydrated, we confuse being thirsty with being hungry, and we end up unnecessarily snacking.
2. Don't buy snacks in the first place. If you have snacks lying around your house, you'll be more tempted to snack when you shouldn't be. This is much harder if you have kids, though.
3. Replace snacks with fruits and vegetables. (Most) fruits and vegetables are much lower in calories compared to things like cookies and other sweets. Have some on hand to eat if you really need to eat.
4. Have your significant other hold you responsible and help you out. If you feel comfortable, share with your partner how you want to stop snacking and have them keep you in line.
5. Keep yourself busy. I find that when I'm bored, I'm way more tempted to eat out of boredom. Keep yourself busy with work to avoid this.
6. If you can, don't bring cash or a credit card with you. This is more situational, but I usually don't bring my wallet when I go to the gym. Sometimes, I'll be tempted to pick up a slice of pizza on the way home. But if I can't pay for it, I won't be able to buy it.
Hope this thread helps you avoid snacking unnecessarily. Like anything in health, everything in moderation. Treat yourself when you deserve it, but learn to control yourself when you need to crack down on your calorie intake.
