Before Yongguk developed his passion for music, he wanted to be an athlete. His parents were against it so he secretly went out to play with his friends. Later, when he became interested in music, his parents didnt approve it too but Yongguk still secretly did music

If im not mistaken he usually got 2nd place in school bcs the 1st place belonged to his twin brother. So his parents told him to get 1st place if he really wanted to do music. So he did just that. (1)

After he joined ts, the dance trainer said he didnt expect much from yongguk probably bcs he was an underground rapper. So yongguk told himself he would try hard and proved them wrong. And he did that too. (2)

What im trying to say here is, if you've noticed, Yongguk doesn't like to be told what he can or can't do because he knows himself the best. and he got ego. If ppl say he can't do A, he will show them he can do A. Probably B and C too.

Another less important moment but still very telling of his character, when he told fans to not scold him for not using lip balm. He said something like, "I know, guys. Stop scolding me. I know I should take care of my lips. Don't scold me."
