Nursery World (or any other org) avoiding a "Wanel," after public attention is one thing but an honest reckoning and collective will to reckon with and counteract the daily impacts of White Supremacy in our sector is something else entirely.
I could rant on and on but the main question/challenge for myself (and I hope others, especially White colleagues) is what am I going to do, risk and challenge for the long term to make sure practicies, policies and power (who holds it) get changed.
The status quo in EYs (and all sectors) is racist. We all reinforce it through our actions and inactions. We tone police & dismiss Black and Brown colleagues who address this reality head on. This all has to be accepted, full stop.
Anything less blames Black and Brown communities for being inferior (to the invisible White standard) one way or another whether anyone wants to admit it or not.
