You may remember this image circulating around the tech twitter last week. Well, if you thought that the story ends here, you are wrong!

It’s filled with twists and turns, attacks and counter-attacks. Here is a mandatory weekend read for you.

A Thread:

This began after @suumitshah's http://MyDukaan.io  legally challenged @Khatabook of copying their app “pixel-by-pixel”. Both the apps were even called Dukaan.

Khatabook denied these accusations, but their Google Play Store app had a different story to tell.

Hours after our report, Khatabook updated its statement.

Turns out, Khatabook has outsourced the app development to @suumitshah-led MyDukaan and they published it under the garb of testing. So, basically, both companies have alleged each other of IP theft.

Hmph.

Meanwhile, a Twitter account rose from the dead backing Khatabook’s claim.

Interestingly, the account was created in August itself and has no new tweets before or after this one tweet.

Summit claimed that the API shown in the Tweet belongs to one of many “Khatabook” listings on his Dukaan app.

The account was allegedly created using a mobile number, which allegedly belonged to a Khatabook employee. He had also shared the relevant screenshots with us.

The series of events between Khatabook and MyDukaan (Growthpond) has raised plenty of questions. And many of these questions still don’t have answers as the companies declined to answer them on their legal teams’ recommendations.

What are your thoughts on this issue?
