1. Introduce what we& #39;re learning today.
If it& #39;s the Heart. Show them a picture of the heart and I& #39;d say:
& #39;This is the heart and we& #39;re going to learn how it works and why it& #39;s important.& #39;

a) Teach the structure of Heart using visualiser.
b) Draw and explain slowly each chamber and vessel - Dual Coding.
c) As I teach it I question the pupils.

3b. Differentiation for Structure of Heart
a) Give them a heart diagram
b) First letters of each structure of Heart as they draw and label
c) Ss use mini white board to draw heart on
d) Give them more time.
e) Have key words on board.

4. Practice using the language.
a) The pupils write a passage describing blood flow through the heart using their diagram.
b) They use their labelled heart diagram to turn it into a passage of writing.
c) *DIFFERENTIATION* = Gap Fill
RETEACH if class don& #39;t understand.

5. Question them before They Do (Independent practice)
a) Mini white boards is great for this.
b) Have an unlabelled heart diagram on board.
c) Test them on each chamber/vessel.
If by now - they don& #39;t understand it - *RETEACH!!!!* - See & #39;I do& #39; or & #39;we do& #39;.

6. Independent Practice.
a) SLOP.
b) one word answer Qs on identifying Chambers and vessels.
c) move onto why questions: why is the Aorta an artery (ect)
d) Harder Qs: blood flows from L Vent into which vessel?
e) end with a & #39;6 mark Q& #39;: Descrive blood flow through Heart.
