1 @OliverDowden (DCMS minister) personally wrote to the museum advising them not to take the statue down.The tone was threatening. "As a government-funded organisation, I expect you to be mindful of the above approach [reinterpreting not taking down - exactly what they& #39;re doing]"
2 In an initial public statement, the museum were going to say that they were advised by @OliverDowden not to take it down. But a DCMS staffer told them to just refer vaguely to "relevant government agencies" instead
