If Joe Biden loses I wonder what non-quantifiable thing it will be blamed on
I neither want him to lose or win.
I would like Donald Trump to not be the president, but also don't think that Joe Biden will be a substantial enough considering how bad the problems are.
I mean putting a bandaid on a shotgun wound is a slight improvement to bleeding out raw.

He has had very little ground game. Part of that is because of Covid, but he didn't do much even before that.
He has low enthusiasm with young people and with Independents.
On average in any election cycle, about a quarter of people vote for either party and the rest stay home.

You know what had more to do with Hillary Clinton losing in 2016 than Russia?
People just deciding that they didn't feel like it, or not being able to turn out to vote, or thinking that Hillary was so much of a lock that they didn't need to go out to vote.

And the messaging I've seen from the Democrats in 2020 doesn't really make me think that they aren't going to give people the same idea again, that Trump is so bad that so many other people are definitely going to go out and vote that they don't need to.
And I'm honestly skeptical that people who aren't partisan to one of the two parties, in large enough numbers, are going to see enough of a contrast between the two choices to feel like they need to do something in either direction.
I mean, prior to the epidemic very little that the Trump administration did had any real impact on me in my daily life.
I dislike him because I dislike his policies, but that requires actively following those things. A lot of folks don't. They have other stuff to do.

What do you tell someone who sincerely doesn't see a difference between the two parties, and doesn't follow the news, and doesn't care about wonk shit, and really doesn't feel affected by politics in any meaningful way, to convince them to buy in?
You really have to contend with that. You can't shame them into voting because they don't care. You can't yell at them. You can't tell them that the president is weird looking or rude or whatever, they don't care.
And there's enough of them that they could decide the election.

In 2011 I made a joke in front of a coworker about something goofy that Sarah Palin did and was stunned when they said "who's that?"
This was 3 years after she was almost VP.
I, a person who watched the Daily Show, was stunned someone didn't know.
I was the outlier, not them.

I’m not telling anyone to do, or not to do anything. I’m not telling anyone to vote for or against Biden here and now, I’m laying this out to refer back to if he loses.
This election, like every election, is going to be decided by people who will never see this thread.
