Unsure whether to think of contract project management as "a challenging discipline that almost no one does well" or "an abomination that should be visited upon no conscious mind, either in the doing or the experience"

To put it another way, les déformations professionnelles sure do hit different for people who've been living in the inferno of this discipline for a few years

Okay, I started this thread as a generalisation about contract project managers but I need to apologise: this person's pathology is in no way generic. Think I might be on target for a rare workplace personality conflict the way this is going
