American kpop stans are colonizers, you can’t change my mind. kpop is seen as relevant now because it became big in the “west” when it has always been relevant in non English speaking countries. In Spanish speaking countries and Asian countries or that don’t count?

That’s why we see western stans always trying to say their faves are bigger than “kpop”. They are korean. Stop trying to take them away from Korea because you somehow feel like Korea is too small and insulting for them. They try to talk over actual Koreans And dictate their-

Culture to them. They see Koreans, especially diaspora Koreans either as lesser than them if they are not kpop stars or they don’t agree with them or as personal Korean accessories they fetishize, who can teach them about oppa and unnie. They constantly cross boundaries with-

Their kpop fav and forget that kpop groups would ALWAYS be loyal to their country. They would never choose you over their own people so extend the same respect to them that you give your “faves” and also western artist. They are not children who can’t understand accountability-

and criticism when they do something bad to a minority group. To say that is racist and you know it. Being from a different non western country does not make them incapable of learning. Grow up and treat them like the adult artists they are.

Kpop is a hobby, nothing more- You can’t like kpop while also being racist and dehumanizing to them. There is nothing special nor different about music in another language. They are people, respect them as such.

Btw I’m not just referring to BTS fans. EVERY KPOP FANDOM does this in a way.
