americans think theyre immune to propaganda but the department of defense spends millions of dollars/lends equipment/locations/resources to hollywood in exchange for having the final say on film scripts. the us DoD has overseen 100’s of films from ironman to silence of the lambs.

during wwii the us had a bureau of motion pictures in the office of war information—the head of the OoW said:”The easiest way to inject a propaganda idea into…people's minds is…through the medium of an entertainment picture when they do not realize theyre being propagandized.”

since 1945 the cia aided in 60 films, in 1996 the cia officially established an “entertainment liaison office” and has since helped with episodes of homeland, the film zero dark thirty; blocked films, censored various scripts and requested major alterations in countless films.

the cia secretly purchased the rights to george orwell’s animal farm and changed the script so that the pigs who are supposed to represent communists were overthrown by the other animals on the farm. they turned AF into cold war propaganda to influence the global south.

due to a foia request as we know it right now the department of defense has overseen 800+ major movie titles and 1100+ television episodes. that we know of. including episodes of top chef, hawaii 5-0, oprah, jay leno and cupcake wars. this doesn’t even include video games.

propaganda is so mundane and intrinsic to everyday american life that its become white noise. when you thumb your nose at north korea just remember the us government has military budgets and several bureaucratic arms intended for the sole purpose of indoctrinating you.
