BG Twitter. Stop doing this weird pearl-clutching rally around being blocked by Bebo. Criminy. She blocks tons of people because she’s vigilant about curating her feed and hyper cautious about protecting herself and her family.

Which is her right.

I’m less aggressive but completely understand. If you saw the crap you can inadvertently help bring into someone else’s life on Twitter dot com, you may better understand.

Here’s how it works...

I tweet something. Maybe you agree. Maybe you disagree. But you interact with the tweet somehow. That action (including liking/replying) helps push MY tweet into your followers feed whether they follow me or not.

Do you curate your followers? No?

Did you know that one account that follows you really dislikes people like me? And likes to make threats? Or likes to snitch tag me to known harassers?

No? Well, it’s not your fault... but...

Now that 3rd degree of separation acct is in my feed lecturing me or telling me I’m ugly or making vague references to how they’d like to assault me. And then THEIR followers can see my tweet and join in. And that’s why people chain or proactively block. Harassers move in flocks.

Curating your followers is a gift to yourself and your tweeps. Getting blocked can feel weird in a small community (I’m blocked by tons of y’all and that’s ok.) But try not to make more of it than it is.
