"If you& #39;re going to say you are a Black woman and refuse to play any matches, change your name. You are not Japanese, stop acting like you are." https://twitter.com/miMikkyu0/status/1298964025099735045">https://twitter.com/miMikkyu0...
"I can only be skeptical of BLM, because it would make Black people invincible. Naomi Osaka is also not Japanese, she can& #39;t even speak Japanese" https://twitter.com/himekaido_now/status/1298962349173293056">https://twitter.com/himekaido...
"Once again, I don& #39;t like Naomi Osaka...

Her way of thinking is not Japanese..." https://twitter.com/hironori1242/status/1298912909741838338">https://twitter.com/hironori1...
"Ultimately, isn& #39;t Naomi Osaka& #39;s identity the problem here?
Just take the other (US) country& #39;s nationality.
Seems like she feels uncomfortable identifying as a Japanese person, I think it& #39;d be perfect for her." https://twitter.com/damejump/status/1298912174375542784">https://twitter.com/damejump/...
These are just a few of the comments that she& #39;s received, largely those that undermine her Japanese identity or her mixed roots.

There are a ton of other comments in that article that also disparage her as an athlete and as a Black woman.
These comments are par for the course when it comes to how mixed kids are treated in Japan.

I& #39;ve encountered these types of comments my entire life, growing up half Japanese, as have many of my friends and mutuals here.

Worse yet, I probably had it better by being half white.
