✨ My Youtube Journey ✨
Since some of you are interested to know how I started this whole Youtube thing, so here goes. Just a disclaimer, I'm still relatively new on Youtube so I'm not well-versed in this field yet. This thread is solely about my experience yaa 🧡
Alright, the main reason I started Youtube was to challenge myself and to try something new regarding art. If you personally know me, I'm pretty awkward around people 😅 so I wanted to change that, not because I wanted to fit in but to boost my confidence level, FOR ME
And that's when Youtube came into the picture. I started posting my first video on March last year but surprise surprise I wasn't mentally ready to pursue this path because I'd always overthink (severely). Scared that no one wants to watch my videos yada yada 😂 haha kesian
This overthinking phase lasted for a year something tau haha. Punya lah lama! So I gathered up my courage and told myself "ahhh screw it! Just freaking do it Qeyna", and so I did 🎉 if you rasa cringe tgk my 'first' video, don't worry, I feel the same thing too haha 😂
Anyway, to start a Youtube channel I suggest that you use an email that's made specifically for your work stuff and bukan campur2 dengan email personal so you can achieve a smooth workflow. Okay ni nak masuk tips and tricks la sikit cewahh haha
For recording you don't need an expensive camera or mic. All of my videos were recorded using my phone. Don't think too much about the equipment because we're just starting out here. Once you feel like upgrading, then only you do so. For now, tk payah membazir. Guna apa yg ada je
Okay, this is really important for me la at least. Lighting ☀️ if possible find a place where you can get the most of natural light. As for me, I like to record my videos between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Kalau tak boleh, don't be rigid. Record malam pun boleh no problem. Buka je lampu 😊
Regarding your content, you need to figure out what your channel is gonna be about. Is it about lifestyle? Art? ASMR? Mukbang? Travel? Whatever it is you need to set a clear goal of what the theme is because that's what attracts your audience. Tu mcm first impression juga la
Next is THUMBNAIL. This is really important! Please make an effort for your thumbnail because this is what the audience sees first. If you want to put wordings, make sure that it's readable. Go for something that's simple and clean. You can't go wrong with that. For example,
You know, try to find something that speaks to you. As for me, I really love the color yellow. It makes me happy 💛🧡 Therefore I try to incorporate yellow as much as possible both in my videos and thumbnails. Just stay creative, the world is your oyster ☺
For language, I suggest that you go for English because it helps you to attract a wider audience. But if you're not comfortable using English, you can use any language by all means. And that's when subtitle comes in handy. You ckp Bahasa Melayu, then buat subtitle English💡
Bukan sbb apa I suruh guna English tu. It's an international language so people from other countries can also watch your videos and bukan tertumpu di Malaysia shj. That's my personal opinion la. But you do you, honey 💅🏼 Do what's best for you! Don't let anything get in your way
Haaa apa lagi eh? I lost my train of thought 😅 oh yaa! Try to watch as many Youtubers that you like and try to catch the essence of things that interest you because starting out is the hardest. So by doing that you're likely to get a rough idea / guideline for your videos
Don't worry. As time goes by, you'll eventually find your own style. Just keep going! I believe in you 🤗 Another thing is consistency. Well, this is what I'm struggling with tbh. I'm working 6 days a week, and the only time I can make videos is when I'm not working
So if you're like me and you still want to make videos, I suggest that you prepare everything beforehand and that includes your idea, materials (for me it's art stuff), cleaning your work area the night before, potong kuku 🤣, fikir angle camera or anything
Jgn buat semua tu on the day of the shooting itself. You'll be freaking exhausted I'm telling you. Last2 you jadi malas nak buat video just because you're too tired preparing. Time tu la fikir nak buat video apa, nak pakai apa lah, potong kuku lah. So nope! Stop doing that 🙅🏻‍♀️
I think that's pretty much it for the nitty-gritty stuff, I guess. If you have anything to ask regarding that, comment je kat bawah or you can DM me 😊 I hope you can get something from this. The main reason I wanna do this thread is because I wanna help people to just go for it
If I could turn back time, I'd tell my younger self to just do it. Face your fear! I've wasted all my time making up excuses for myself, fikir yg I'm not good enough, oh I'm too shy to do this, oh what if people hate me, oh I don't have the money to buy the materials yada yada
Yes! I'm guilty of that too. I tried to make up scenarios in my head and I ended up not doing it. And that's exhausting ☹ so pleaseeeee don't repeat the same thing I did. This doesn't apply for Youtube only but for everyday life. Just do anything that makes you happy 🥰
Oh and, back to the topic. I recently got accepted for Youtube Partner Program where I can monetize my videos and make money out of it. Yayyy 🎉🎉🎉 Alhamdulillah 🤲🏼 thank you to those yang selalu support I especially this Twitter community. I really really appreciate it 🥰🧡
Maybe I just got lucky I don't know, but it only took me 3 months something to get monetized which I'm truly grateful for 🤲🏼 you need to have 1000 subscribers and 4000 public watch hours within 12 months time, then only you can apply for monetization 😊
There's this one specific video that contributes a lot in my Youtube channel's growth. I didn't know how it happened or how Youtube algorithm works but I guess this video reaches quite a number of people. So yeah, Alhamdulillah 🥰
My advice is just make as many videos for your channel. Don't give up. We never know if one day one of your videos will go viral ke apa, or did super well in your Youtube channel. Whatever it is just keep going 🧡 think of Youtube as a long term investment I would say
Don't expect to gain success overnight unless you're a celebrity or whatnot 😬 but if you're like me, just keep on making videos and try to create great content regardless. And also try to promote your Youtube channel all over your social media so people will start to notice
your channel existence ✨ hehe I hope this thread helps you to start your own Youtube journey in some way. Goodluck, lovelies! 😉 anyway, feel free to follow me on Youtube if you want to. I'd really appreciate that 🧡
