So I haven& #39;t seen She-Ra, so maybe this is about to be a terrible take, but the recent drama around the show is dumb and I& #39;m kinda sick of seeing it on my TL
I& #39;m not going to argue that the joke that was made wasn& #39;t racist because it so was. This is a good piece written by another black creator who& #39;s both actually seen She-Ra and finds it important to her on why the joke was bad https://azzylon.tumblr.com/post/627597633984380929/why-noelles-sow-joke-is-a-racist-and-dangerous">https://azzylon.tumblr.com/post/6275...
No, what I find dumb are the people who, in response, want to purge the sin of She-Ra from their lives and are pressuring people to do the same. They& #39;re all "you& #39;re not allowed to like She-Ra anymore" and such
First of all, lol the staff has already been paid. The show ended.
What
what are you boycotting?
Liberals have really brainwashed us with the most ineffective forms of collective action, huh?

Second, the content of the show hasn& #39;t changed, right? It& #39;s still good wlw-representation afaik, with fun, diverse characters and progressive themes. It didn& #39;t stop being that just because some white person made a very white-person comment and apologized.
Third, and this is the most important part, what& #39;s happening here is that a lot, like, personally identify with She-Ra? As in their sense of morality hinges on the idea that She-Ra is a "good" show. And now that it& #39;s "bad" they can& #39;t like it or they& #39;re "bad" too.
Stop doing this moralizing bullshit. Seriously, it& #39;s reactionary behavior.
Consumption is not a substitute for moral principle, and it REALLY BOTHERS ME how many people who are otherwise leftists still think like this https://youtu.be/9Deg7VrpHbM ">https://youtu.be/9Deg7VrpH...

Especially when half of y& #39;all are pirating and streaming this shit anyway like.
I don& #39;t really know how else to explain that whether or not you like something and whether or not something is problematic are distinct (yet somewhat related) things????

You know I still get tearsoaked emails and messages from people, deeply offended that I would suggest like, Konosuba or whatever has sexist themes and they& #39;re all
"Um. Excuse me???"
"I LIKED that show????"
"I& #39;M NOT SEXIST I& #39;M NOT I PROMISE PLEASE VALIDATE ME"

Stoooopppp. That& #39;s not how it works. I promise.
You know what would actually be cool? Rewatching She-Ra and paying especially good attention to how the show handles racial politics and talking about that.
Instead of "me no like show bc show bad now
