cw eating disorder recovery, fatmisia, weight loss

i dip out of a twitch chat when folks start talking about weight loss because it is always so close to body shaming, and rewarding thinness and I wish people were more equipped to handle and re-direct these convos
you do not have to lose weight to be healthy, your health is not in tandem with your weight, and perpetuating and allowing these conversations to happen do more harm than good.

that's all đź’•
I am always going to be the one to bring this up because I've done the work and had the conversations for literal years. I've worked with NEDAxInstagram this past February on a campaign, and I have been working in the body liberation space for a long time.
I know these conversations are uncomfortable. I KNOW it's uncomfortable to understand and speak about thin privilege, about fatmisia, and talk about the oppression that folks in bigger bodies face. And this is because you have to admit that body size is not *a choice*.
I will get off my soap box because I have things to do. But how are you protecting the plus-size/fat members of your community?

How are you uplifting them? How are you ensuring that they are not shamed - whether intentionally or unintentionally?
Furthermore, how are you protecting the people in your community who are recovering from eating disorders? How are you dismantling diet culture in your spaces?
One last thing: my social medias are not a democracy and you can go fight your mom.
