Hello! I'm making yet another thread since I'm in the BL Novels mood! This time I'm reading "My Ride, I Love You" which I've heard is being made into a show! This is a little thread on it (yay i can't believe i'm in the mood to read books). So, spoiler alert, I suppose!
I've heard good things about this one. For one: it's not a college romance with rich kids. It's an adult story about a Doctor (Tawan) and a motorbike taxi driver (Mork) and about how they get together!
The author is a member of the lgbt community on top of all of this (he's gay!), so I'm already really excited to read it! I'm hoping we'll get a nice storyline since they're both working adults! :D
Things I love about this novel already:
1. the footnotes that explain thai terms and give pronunciations as well <3
2. tawan just got with a dude without all the dancing around and mincing his words! i love that! yes, you're a grown adult who can straight up talk about this woo!

I'm still a little lost as to why these novels always have a yaoi fangirl character. What's the point of it? DBK had one too, but she wasn't mentioned apart from once and I'm glad it stayed that way. Doesn't it just seem weird and invasive and fetishising? Please someone help me.
Hm, another thing I'm confused about is the main character Tawan. I was excited, but he had a friend who doesn't go by Not anymore but by Nadia. They've been friends for years at this stage and he's still sometimes calling him Not. Maybe I'm overthinking.
OH?? Mork's living with his gay uncles??? I live for this. Hello gay uncles please take me in as well you seem really kind and caring so far!!
The gay uncles are dropping life advice about how you need more than just love and compassion to make a relationship work. They've been together for a long time as well and are spouses! (I'm assuming not legally since it wasn't mentioned.) I love them :(
Oh? Mork's boss is going out with a trans woman? Mork is surrounded by diversity. And Tawan is pretty open and relaxed about his own sexuality. So hopefully there won't be a lot of drama when it comes to getting together.
Ah, slow burn. I can sense it. Tawan has a boyfriend and Mork doesn't care just yet for a new relationship. I like it.
I love Nadia. I aspire to be him. He really prepared a full powerpoint to convince Tawan to cover a girl group song.
The NadiaTawan friendship and the MorkLoongAr family is great. I love it. Fun times so far. Nary a rape joke/harassment/assault in sight.
The lack of updates on this thread is a good thing. There's a lot of attempts at life advice and love advice in this book. Don't know if I care for it or not, but it's still a nice change of pace from the shit I read yesterday.
AAAAAA tawan encouraging mork to better himself and figure out that he wants to be more educated, there's a child whol does the classic "i want to hold hands with both of you" and tawan really said "we look like two dads with a son"????? HELP I LOVE THEM.
