I am extremely proud of the campaign we ran and the policies we released.

Going from 3.5% unemployment to COVID-19 and an economic crisis to the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement all in one election cycle was a whirlwind.

🧵1/N
Our theme throughout this campaign was that the promise of New York - education, economic opportunity, social mobility - was broken. Our goal was to restore that promise and create a new American Dream that works for each and every one of us.

2/N
And despite these inflection points, our theme didn't just hold, it became more even more relevant. I'm going to talk about a few of our novel proposals.

3/N
We launched with The Family Opportunity Guarantee, a suite of five policies that would invest in our nation's future and put us on track to eradicate childhood poverty.

4/N
Paid Family and Medical Leave
Medicare for Kids*
A Public Option for Child Care
Nationwide Universal Pre-K
Universal Child Dividend

*yes we supported M4A but our constituents often asked us what our compromise would be if it couldn't pass M4A in a divided government.

5/N
We then released The Discovery Project, a Space Race-scale mobilization and investment in Public R&D for America to lead again in discovering humanity’s future.

8/N
This proposal was designed to solve existential issues like climate change, pandemics, biodiversity loss and to find the unknown unknowns that can change the course of humanity while creating millions of new jobs a year and restoring America's image and global leadership.

9/N
We were working on this proposal even before Covid-19 (I have receipts)

10/N
My favorite part of the first response was putting the economy on ice and passing automatic stabilizers. My favorite part of the second response was the reforms to The Federal Reserve and a commitment to sustained support until we get to full employment and wage growth.

14/N
This thread of our policy proposals was not exhaustive and I'll put up a thread of all our proposals at some point.

Had we won we would've put out many more policy proposals. Our work here isn't done and Suraj will still write various policy proposals going forward.

16/N
Working on this campaign was truly an honor. This loss was gutwrenching but there is a lot of work to be done. I look forward to whatever the future holds.
