My take on how Chelsea Should Line up Next season, including all near completed transfers, and 1 predicted transfer:

A THREAD:
With heavy investment this Summer Chelsea will be looking to join the Liverpool and City pack at the top of the table. With City possibly getting Messi and Koulibaly and Liverpool Thiago, we can safely say the PL must be won by Chelsea as the squad still needs to gel together.
However how should Lampard put all of his players into a team and system and create a team to bulldoze opponents and have a Liverpool 17/18 type season where it becomes clear the team will not settle for mediocrity.
The aim of this thread is to give a standard line up for the season ad predict the changes we will see most often to said line up, for different opponents. The standard line up would be for if we were going to play a big side and not a team who would park the bus.
Goalkeeper: André Onana: £35,000,000

Onana is the epitomises the modern goalkeeper, is great with his feet, while still being a superb shot stopper, posting a Post Shot xG overperformance of 4.7 goals in only 6 UCL matches this season, and similar in 12 in the previous season.
I’d expect Frank Lampard to go for Onana over a Nick Pope solely for the fact that Pope isn’t as accomplished with the ball at his feet and we need our keeper to be so. As well Pope has had a down year returning from a shoulder injury and is 4 years older and could cost more.
Left Back: Ben Chilwell: ÂŁ50,000,000

Ben Chilwell is all but confirmed to join Chelsea. The Englishman is superb at getting up and down the flanks and boasts significant recovery pace, and pace to fly past opponents or overlap. His crossing and 1v1 defending need work however.
Chilwell would offer the side a more defensively reliable player on the left and also he would help defending and scoring set pieces. Overall Chilwell should be what Chelsea have lacked at left back and we can trust our coaching staff to assist Ben in removing his weaknesses.
Left Centre Back: Kurt Zouma

Onto the first already Chelsea player, Zouma has shown in the 19/20 season to acclimatise to being back at Chelsea and the mistakes of early season are a distant memory. With Zouma now Chelsea’s best centre back, making a tackle that got us top 4.
Zouma’s recovery speed and last ditch tackles, as well as aerial dominance make him the perfect premier league centre back. His passing out of the back is still unappreciated for its level and he is the clear pick at centre back alongside a new signing.
Right Centre Back: Thiago Silva: free

Thiago Silva is still a world class defender and Fabrizio has given the here we go for his move to Chelsea. The Brazilian captain brings leadership and experience as well as dominance to a meek back 4, you could say.
Still boasting a superb passing range and last ditch tackles, the Brazilian is rarely dribble past which is great as he lacks his once pace. Next to a rapid centre back in Zouma, who to speaks French he could adapt superbly to the PL and could very well get the vice captaincy.
Right Back: Reece James
We’ve seen how good a crosser and footballer he is, against Bayern he did brilliant versus Davies, still only 20, I don’t rlly have to explain this pick, Azpi will be pushed out with Reece bringing a more attacking option to the table who will only improve
Defensive Midfield: N’Golo Kanté

Kanté showed near the end of last season to be on the way to becoming a sole defensive mid at the base of our midfield. His passing and defensive work were superb and he can only improve in this position and become one of the best in Europe
Left Centre Mid: Mateo Kovacic

Chelsea’s POTY, Kovacic has shown to be one of the best at bringing the ball forward in our team and winning it back. In a more advanced role next season with more understanding of a box to box role he would drop back and assist Kanté when required
Right Centre Mid: Kai Havertz

Havertz will most likely play in a midfield 3 next season as a more attacking player, providing the cutting edge a Kovacic or Kanté can’t and getting into the box to score. In a free role in the right of midfield or as a 10, Havertz will cause havoc
Left Winger: Christian Pulisic

Captain America had a tremendous end to season, finishing with 21 g/a. Hopefully with more game time & better service, Pulisic will explode next season like CR7 did when he was 22 in 06/07. Christian would provide a more direct threat than the RW.
Right Winger: Hakim Ziyech

One of our main issues was creativity in 19/20 and Ziyech will bring that in abundance with 21 assists last seasons. Offering crosses to the back post, set piece and some long range threat, Ziyech could be the creative spark for Chelsea, in 20/21.
Striker: Timo Werner

For years we’ve lacked that lethal goal scorer, but now we’ve got Timo bursting in behind, coming deep to link play, screeching past PL defenders. Timo is a more complete striker than he is given credit for and would offer a torrid time for PL centre backs.
How it Looks:
Other Key Players:

Starting with Andreas Christensen I think himself Zouma and Thiago Silva will be the 3 at centre back, with Tomori on loan, fighting to play next season. If he can bulk up and work hard on his concentration, playing next to Silva I bet we could see huge
Improvements in his performances, and maybe see the 17/18 AC rear its head, as he regains confidence & faith in himself, now 24 next season is a make or break for him and we need to see the mistakes fade, cos at his age JT was captaining us to record breaking points and CL semis.
Cesar Azplicueta:

Not much explains Azpi provides cover at LB and RB and is still able to play at the highest level. He will play a huge role I feel, wether through injury or fatigue, already likely to play the first month with Chilwell recovering from an ankle injury.
Ethan Ampadu:

Ampadu is looking to remain & fight to play for a place in Chelsea’s starting 11 next season. Which I’m delighted about cos I think he could be exactly what we need at DM, his tackling is gorgeous and his passing praised by Giggs. He could play a big role next szn.
Billy Gilmour:

Billy I think looks like he could become a really special player, already showing signs of going to the top, I think in the Modric or Kroos role is where his future lies, not bursting forward but controlling the game like a Xavi, can’t wait to see more of the Scot
Mount:

Mason has shown this season how good a presser and overall player he is. Bringing an intensity to our pressing and also scoring a few lovely goals. Next season I expect him to play still a lot, and ahead of Kovacic against Park the Bus opponents, next to Havertz in a 3
Ruben:

We all know that Ruben still needs time but if we do get that Ruben back, he could very well look to push Kovacic out of the midfield. We all know a fully fit Ruben can strive forward through the midfield combining strength and technical ability let’s hope we see that
CHO:

Next season I believe CHO will have a similar season to Pulisic this season where he proves all the doubters wrong. One of the best young creative wingers in Europe and still 19, next season with rotation he could play a large amount of games and be a bully in cup games.
Tammy Abraham:

Next season I expect Tammy to play a lot, especially against Park the bus opponents where his skill set may be required to break down opponents, if he can improve his heading he could be a very big player next season that Lampard could use to rely on.
