NC's Lt. Gov candidate @markrobinsonNC grew up poor as 1 of 10 siblings. He ended up in the foster care system and later went on to work everywhere from factories to restaurants.

But his life took an unexpected turn after he stood up against the Greensboro City Council. 2/15
The daughter of a bookkeeper and a blue collar worker, @KimWyman12 started with humble beginnings. But because of her hard work and dedication, she was able to earn both her Bachelor's and Master's and become Washington's Secretary of State. 3/15
When OH state House candidate @Shay_Hawkins_OH was born, his mom was diagnosed with cancer. 34 years later, he was paralyzed in a car accident. But he's been able to rise above all odds and thrive. 4/15
PA state Sen Scott Martin learned hard work + dedication = results from playing sports, winning a National Champion title in high school and two-time All American in college. Just recently Scott was named 1 of the 150 greatest players in PA State Athletic Conference history. 5/15
Growing up in a 300 sq. ft. space made of bamboo and mud in Taiwan after her family was forced to flee communist China, @AngieChenButton came to the US, earned her Masters, and is now a Texas state rep, breaking glass ceilings wherever she goes. 6/15
Originally from a small town in Texas, TX state House candidate @WillDouglasTX is now a self-made pharmacist and business owner. He's been named to the "40 under 40" list and is running for the House to help bring the economy back to its feet. 7/15
PA state House candidate @Pete4PA grew up in a broken home surrounded by drugs and violence, but he overcame his circumstances, becoming the first in his family to graduate from not only high school, but from college, too. 8/15
NC state Rep. Ed Goodwin has inspected nuclear weapons, guarded President Reagan, and earned the Airman's medal for Heroism. What's he learned from all this? Leave no one behind. Truly a story of American greatness. 9/15

NY state Assemblywoman @MissyMillerNY has raised 2 children with complicated medical issues and lost her eldest to a rare disease. She's worked for over 25 years to train pediatric residents to handle the challenges they face working with chronically ill children. 12/15
ME Senate candidate Dr. Sara Rivard overcame a tough childhood of needing help and food assistance to become a chiropractor and small business owner. 13/15
NC state House candidate @BenMossForNC followed in the footsteps of his father, becoming a 2nd generation railroader. He's since worked as a trainmaster, engineer, and was the first Republican elected to the Richmond Board of County Commissioners. 14/15
A former trade union member and construction industry worker, MN state House candidate Joe Garofalo is now a small business owner and realtor in Minneapolis. 15/15
