Listen, I have nothing but respect for police officers. They have an incredibly difficult job. They do it for low pay. They put their lives on the line for us time and again over the course of their careers. I am grateful for their protection.
But it is hard not to see white privilege in action in the Jacob Blake / Kyle Rittenhouse moments this week.
Jacob Blake gets shot seven times in the back because a police officer thought he was reaching for a knife in his van.
Kyle Rittenhouse walks down the middle of the road straight at police with an AR-15 strapped across his chest after murdering two people in the middle of a riot and no one bats an eye. In fact, they toss him a bottle of water.
That's worth acknowledging, y'all. That's what systemic racism looks like -- and it is the reason for the protests that you see happening all around you.
