Coronavirus: A number of examples were given at tonight's NPHET briefing of how gatherings are allowing SARS-CoV-2 to spread in Ireland.

Here's a thread of those examples. http://jrnl.ie/5188164t
There are 392 active Covid-19 outbreaks, which are still being managed by public health departments.

Of these, 252 are related to social gatherings in private houses.
Dr Ronan Glynn clarified that these were not all house parties, but a normal gathering where Covid-19 spread through social interaction in the home.

He did, however, use this to urge people to cut down on households they're mixing with.
There has been one outbreak in a pub-restaurant that involved 26 cases, and that subsequently led to 10 additional cases in another workplace.
Another restaurant had 19 cases which involved staff and customers, and was associated with a separate family outbreak.
Another outbreak involved six cases in a sports club, and a further 19 cases after transmission at an associated social gathering.
There was another outbreak in a retail outlet that involved seven cases among staff, some of whom worked while symptomatic.
Dr John Cuddihy of the @hpscireland said they were seeing outbreaks in one household, and it then spreading to another household after a congregation.

Physical distancing, handwashing, and staying at home if you have symptoms are still key to stopping the virus from spreading.
