It will be interesting to see how serious our interest in Edouard Mendy is. Statistically, he looks much better than expected.

On watching him, he seems confident and agile while collecting crosses though he does seem to have handling issues. His distribution is promising too.
I tried to identify GKs who are above the median at shot-stopping, long-passing, cross collection and sweeping while also being 1.9m or taller. All these are aspects Lampard wants.

The answer:

1. Edouard Mendy (Rennes, 1.97m, 28 y/o)
2. Lukas Hradecky (Leverkusen, 1.92m, 30)
The biggest roadblock to any deal for Mendy is the question over his ability to adapt. It is one thing playing for Rennes with all due respect, another playing for Chelsea.

The shift between leagues, languages, cultures and styles is huge. Can he cope with it?
There are vague similarities between Edouard Mendy and Nick Pope. Both are big GKs who are comfortable collecting crosses.

Pope is more assured coming in terms of decision-making, Mendy is more agile. Mendy wins in terms of distribution but Pope knows the league/culture better.
Lampard seems to want a dominant GK to solve our set-piece woes, which explains why the Onana links have dried up.

Mendy and Pope seem to be the main options and both are solid but not elite GKs. Will be interesting to see if we go for a left-field option like Maignan too.
