Polish Military TOTD: kb wz. 35 was an antitank rifle designed by the talented Józef Maroszek in 1935. It had a muzzle velocity of almost 4200 fps and proved very effective against Nazi armor. @MikePerryavatar @KrzysztofCam @SilenceInPolish @policies4poland @I_W_M @OctaneJames
The bullet had a lead core and would not richochet even at shallow impact angles, instead punching holes in armor. It was capable of penetrating both Panzer III and Panzer IV armored plate in 1939.
After the fall of Poland, many of these were pressed into service with the Wehrmacht and later with Italian forces. The Germans later built their own rifle based on the Polish design.
Communist propaganda taught us in schools that due to secrecy those rifles were not used in 1939. That’s a lie: they were in fact issued to men who had undergone specialist sniper training! Poland was attacked on all four sides and stood no chance with her allies passive.
