Firstly, please watch this entire interview and allow it to educate you as it has me. Thank you @deray for your tireless activism and shedding light on what we need to do. And I ask that my followers please read this entire thread for action steps.
Secondly, I know there are a lot of good officers serving our communities. I’ve met and been helped by many men and women who do just that. We need them. But we also need them to be held accountable for their unlawful actions. Just as we citizens are.
In 20 states, officers are protected by the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights (LEOBR or LEOBoR) which is intended to protect American law enforcement personnel from investigation and prosecution arising from conduct during official performance of their duties and provides-
them with privileges based on due process additional to those normally provided to other citizens.

The state of Wisconsin is one of them.
In addition, in Wisconsin, any city over 4000 people, the direct firing of a police officer or police chief is solely handled by that city’s-
Police and Fire Commission. In the case of Jacob Blake, Kenosha. What that means is that ONLY the City of Kenosha’s Board of Police and Fire Commission have the power to hold that police officer accountable. Not the Mayor. Not the Police Chief. So what can you do?
Go here: https://www.kenosha.org/government/boards-and-commissions/police-fire-commission file a complaint at The City of Kenosha - Police and Fire Commission. Call, email, pressure - use this template by @ElaineWelteroth - the board of their commission, listed on the site and demand that Officer Rusten Sheskey be held
accountable for the shooting of #JacobBlake.

And lastly, these are the 16/20 states that currently have The Law Enforcement Bill of Rights: California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas,
Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin.
The only way these Bill of Rights can be repealed is through their respective state legislatures. When you VOTE November 3, know the position of your local candidates and vote like you and your fellow citizen’s lives depend on it.
Because they do.
