There's a lot of points being made by non-Sechelt people on this issue.

A few that need correction: https://twitter.com/Khelsilem/status/1299044762557677569
Leonard Lee said “I don’t like to see either language with parentheses around it or one bigger than the other. You don’t get reconciliation that way".

WRONG. 100% wrong.

Replacing English names with the original Indigenous names **is** reconciliation.
Leonard Lee also said “People think of reconciliation as reconciling differences and making people whole again, and the only way you can do that is by engaging everybody in the planning and the implementation.”

WRONG.

Reconciliation is fixing the damage done.
Do non-Indigenous communities need be consulted on changes made to advance Indigenous rights and reconciliation?

No, they do not. Can they? Sure. But it is not required.
There is no constitutional requirement to consult and accommodate non-Indigenous peoples on implementing Indigenous rights and reconciliation.
99.9% of our Indigenous way of life was changed so a handful of people can have a summer home on the Sunshine Coast.

Plans to reverse 0.01% of that is not up for public debate.
I'm not from the Sechelt Nation but part of the Sunshine Coast is Squamish Nation territory too.

These non-Indigenous opinions would come out if my Nation takes similar actions.
