Its true there's no comprehensive list of "PhD jobs."

However there are certain career paths or areas that are more readily available as job opportunities directly out of grad school, particularly for people who don't have any other substantial non-academic career experience. https://twitter.com/BeyondProf/status/1299014326280433664
Some PhD's aren't looking for their perfect job soulmate. Some are just looking for any opportunity where they can *actually get hired* & earn a steady paycheck.

It would be nice if every PhD (& non-PhD) could have their job soulmate. But that's a very privileged aspiration.
Many PhDs are working class people who are struggling to pay their bills and keep a roof over their head.

I feel a very strong need to push back on this resistance in the #altac world to offering practical suggestions for job opportunities. It is classist, frankly.
It assumes everyone has the time & resources seek out their perfect, ideal, fantasy job opportunity (and actually find it, and get hired in it)

A lot of PhDs and graduate students are not in that *extremely privileged position*.
This type of advice was frankly *USELESS* to me when I was living on my parents couch, drowning in debt, & living in fear of any kind of injury or illness because I had no health insurance.

What I needed was practical suggestions as to who would *actually hire me.*
So I'm just going to say it one more time:

It is classist to resist giving people practical job opportunity suggestions.
