Hi, hot take time because it's been A Bit:

Hi. I see you wanting to comment on the latest anthology that came out made for That Other Game.

Please take this as your polite reminder that for a lot of folx, the only way that might be available to them to get published is by
strapping themselves together to make a thing because they do not have the skills or money to be able to produce a thing themselves, especially for non-white people.

Yes, I have spent my time expounding upon why The Other Game is shit. You probably have too.
Until y'all get in the habit of offering to take on non-white people and non straight people for projects without a published credit to their name, I implore you to kindly shut the fuck up for two hot damn seconds.
It's a lot easier to get your start doing for A Product that doesn't require you to start from fucking scratch for marketing.

Marketing yourself takes energy. So like, if you're a non-white disabled queer person, you only got so many slots before you're flat out.
So, with that being said, that new anthology that just came out is still made by independent people working for pennies. They're not getting as much cash as you think they're getting, and I swear to all the gods above and below, if you want to bitch about anything, how about
you bring your asses to my Twitter doorstep. You can tell me about how I should've pub'd my first 3 modules independently to have gotten my start in writing & designing games.

I was published in Uncaged Vol. 1 & both Book of Seasons

My fucking DMs are open. I got time today.
ALSO, NOT FOR NOTHING, STOP RECOMMENDING GAMES THAT AREN'T EVEN FUCKING OUT YET AS ALTERNATIVES AND/OR LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THEIR KICKSTARTERS

NOT FUCKING HELPFUL.
I know people are upset about The Other Game. I had to make hard lines for myself because I spent too much of my time yelling about how bad it is.

I've got numerous threads on why the program for TOG is awful. But I'm also not going to get mad at first timers getting their feet
into the industry the same way I did, which was by an anthology, and getting my name published on something.

Like, it meant a lot to me. It was an accomplishment. It also let me decide if this was something I was going to keep going with or if I would be okay walking away.
You don't have to like it. Not asking you to like it. Just, ffs, consider how *you* got your start, what you're doing now or the projects that you're currently working on, and maybe consider contracting the people writing/doing art on it.

Because those folx are still our peers.
And we know they deserve better. So for fucks sake, take their names and give them better opportunities.
Addendum: People should have the same amount of energy for indie projects that go through bullshit, *and* we also need to be cognizant that there aren't many other places we can go to do split revenue for projects.

Itchio would be great... if it could get its shit together &
allow us to revenue share for projects and takes the additional burden of figuring out who gets what right from the start instead of someone being the main project head with their email attached to the money - which is another ball of wax entirely.
