As you get older you really understand your parents had trauma too, in an era with less therapy resources available. I had to stop being so angry.
How long do you blame childhood trauma for your own actions? Where do you cut the cord and say that no longer has control over me? I’M better, and CAN do better?
And to be clear: Your feelings are valid for whatever they have caused you. But healing requires being at peace with the past, and if what they do is that detrimental still, please suggest therapy for them TODAY. Or establish boundaries to where they don’t keep damaging you.
