I've been self employed since I was 18 years old

Here's what I can gather
First, there's nothing wrong with a normal 9-5 job

If you're happy and find purpose behind it

Kudos to you

The 9-5 life just wasn't for me
At 18 I got into a job being an independent contractor in sales (Real Estate)

The thought of sitting behind a desk for 40 years

Doing the same thing everyday

Trading my time for money

Never sat well with me
The controversial statement I'm sure you've all heard

Along the lines of:

I'd rather make $50k/yr myself vs $250k/yr for someone else

Well...

It's true

Here's why
2 simple reasons

Freedom and scalability

Working for yourself gives you the freedom to

- do what you want
- when you want
- however you want

You can't put a price tag on freedom
What about scalability?

In most cases, that $250k/yr is capped

Meaning that's you're ceiling

There's no more time in the world you can create to make anymore money

You're working 50-60 hours a week and have no free time

Besides

Ask yourself this
Is the goal to make as much money as possible and enjoy it by yourself at 70 years old

Or

To make create as much time as possible while living a life of purpose with loved ones and money is the byproduct?
Being your own boss you scale at your own rate

Your potential is endless

The ceiling is infinite
Aside from those benefits

Self-employment is your greatest accountability partner

If you want to get paid, find a way to pay yourself

Your boss doesn't hold your hand and tell you what to do, you are the boss
You create your own schedule

Your own success

Your own future

You have to respect that
The end

That's everything I've put together in my short time of working for myself

I hope you enjoyed the read

Remember this,

Even if you aren't your own boss

You can still become the boss of your life

Thanks for your time. A simple RT would be cool if you enjoyed🤝
