Foolishly wading into the Soccer Saturday row, but IMO worth pointing out that the sacked presenters came from a sport that ruthlessly discards employees, into a similarly unsentimental business. Phil Thompson, for eg, having been a player and coach/assistant manager would be >>
fully aware how cutthroat football can be. He had a reported 22 years on Soccer Saturday, which is a very good run, and a lot longer than many playing/coaching careers. Similar for the others. And (ISTBC) the sacked pundits seem to have taken it with good grace and acceptance.
Which is more than can be said for some using the story for dishonest and disturbing means. Argue the journalistic/presentational merits of the decision all you like, but there's an irony those who bemoan sport and politics mixing demanding an exception for their nasty politics.
