my mom& #39;s been binging a fuckton of western media, and today she sorta pointed out how she& #39;s noticed more same sex relationships on TV. told her about how 1/20 people identify as not straight and that the community is fighting for more representation in shows.

told her about the basics of the LGBTQ+ community and the pride movement and stuff, and she got most of it.

i sat in silence for a couple of minutes, while she hit play on Jessica Jones, and then said, "are you ok with this?"
man, i wasn& #39;t ready for her answer.

"it& #39;s perfectly fine, hell, it& #39;s not anything special. it& #39;s who you are. you& #39;re born a certain way, you have certain characteristics physically. you can& #39;t change those."

"people of the community deserve double the respect bc they go through the stigma and them being told it& #39;s abnormal is wrong and it& #39;s needs to be normalized. people who do come out are brave enough and live life on their terms without giving a damn."

in that moment, i almost came out to her and i really had to control myself bc i don& #39;t think im ready for it. i think i might actually cry for the first time in weeks tonight.
